Being away from friends and family can be a difficult part of studying abroad. Working with Davis Housing Services, student has the option to get connected with other host families through the our Friendship Family Program.

• Be connected with an individual or another family in the community.
• Join Davis family members for dinner, holiday celebrations and cultural and athletic events.
• Have a family support system away from home
• Gain an immersive look at the
  American experience off campus.

The Friendship Family Program was developed to assist our international student population in their quest to learn more about American culture.

Davis Housing Services matches international students with local families and individuals that have expressed an interest in International Students.

The goal is for our students to learn about, and experience, American culture. Additionally, it is our hope that each student will share his or her culture with their Friendship Family.

The National Association of Foreign Student Advisors states that programs such as these are “the start of what could be a lifelong relationship where families and students will learn from each other and grow together. We hope that this experience will encourage people to break stereotypes, discover their own city, and continue the international experience once the student returns to his/her home country. Hosting is a small but essential step in contributing to world peace, tolerance, and understanding – it happens one relationship at a time."
