Davis Housing Services is a comprehensive local homestay placement agency.  We are located in the heart of the downtown City of Davis. 

Davis Housing Services provides international student homestay and exchange programs dedicated to bringing the students of different nations and cultures together at a personal family level, forging bonds of friendship that will last a lifetime.

Davis Housing Services was founded with the belief that increasing cultural understanding and tolerance between the nations of the world is the first step to reaching a true peace within the world.

We are engineers, medical physician, web designers, homemakers, writers, and small business owners, etc. with many unique experiences and backgrounds.  We are also Certified Residential Specialists (CRS), real estates agents, and real estates brokers that are fully licensed and insured to operate and handle many forms of residential leases, contracts, agreements, and transactions in the State of California.

With years of experience in working with international progranms, we apply personal attention, professionalism, excellent service to provide international students with a firsthand experience in American multi-cultural  living environment and immersion to English and Davis traditions.

Our Business

Davis Housing Services student exchange programs focus on cultural exchanges for international exchange students. Davis Housing Services to concentrates on university students who will actually become a part of a community in the Davis by living as a member of their host family.

In short, these students are immersed in a new way of life; joining into the culture and community of their host family. Significantly, this happens at a time in their lives when many people make their most long-lasting friendships.

Once their program ends, Davis Housing Services international exchange students then return to their home countries, bringing their new understandings and friendships along. What these students leave behind is just as important - host families are left with a deeper appreciation and insight into another culture, closing gaps of perception that may exist.

Davis Housing Services is built with three levels of management; Local Office, Program Managers, and Local Housing Coordinators

Local Coordinators are responsible for interviewing prospective host families, matching up the family's interests with those of available international exchange students, providing pre-arrival orientation to the host family and post-arrival orientation to the students and families on the program, maintaining contact with the students and host families and schools, supervising the students throughout the duration of the program, arranging gatherings and short excursions for the students under their care, and providing the first level of counseling for the students and host families should any difficulties arise.

The Davis Housing Services Local Office and Program Managers maintain communication with the overseas partner organizations that manage the relationship with the natural families and recruit and screen students for the UC Davis program.

The Davis Housing Services Local Office works closely with the United States Department of State to provide Visa documents for the incoming students and UC Davis to provide I-20 form.

American host families are recruited year-round. Davis Housing Services Local Office believes that it is important to find qualified host families as early as possible so that correspondence can begin that much sooner between the host family and student.

Experience has proven that this correspondence helps to eliminate many false expectations and to build friendship, trust and understanding. Davis Housing Services continues to recruit qualified host families should circumstances require the student to relocate. Each prospective American host family is personally interviewed by a Davis Housing Services Local Housing Coordinator. The prospective host family then completes a detailed Host Family Application covering the family’s background, interests, and hobbies and this includes two to three personal references that can attest to the quality of the family and their ability to provide a good environment for the arriving exchange student. All adult members of the host family household are also required to undergo a criminal background check as part of the screening process.

Davis Housing Services Local HousingsCoordinator will have at least monthly communication with the Host Family and Exchange Student to check on progress, offer any counseling needed and monitor progress.

Often times, the Davis Housing Services Local Housing Coordinator will call the host family and univeristy directly as well.

Davis Housing Services Local Housing Coordinator will have several informal gathering to encouraging open environment for the students and host families to interact.

The heart of the Housing Services homestay program stresses family living as the core learning experience —offering students from foreign lands the chance to share in other cultures through personal involvement in the homes, schools and communities of their host country.
